Part of a 15-year association with The Cafritz Foundation in Washington, DC. as the principal designer for the historic apartment buildings in their residential real estate portfolio. This project involved a complete restoration and renovation of all public areas in an Art Deco apartment house built in 1940 by developer Morris Cafritz and designed by architect Harry Edwards. All remaining original architectural details were restored and many lost features newly designed to complement them in historically appropriate style and materials. This included a custom terrazzo lobby floor, stainless ceiling fixture, lobby trim and accents. Insensitive major alterations were removed to restore the lobby to its original configuration.
